Chicken Korma - Mel’s version

Filed under: Food Talk - mel @ 8:19 pm

I was doomed of what to cook for dinner today. Thought very hard, finally resorted to Chicken Korma. I’ve tasted numerous styles of this dish but none could beat my late grandma’s Korma. I miss her cooking so much and I wish I was older when she was still alive so that I could have had the interest to learn her secret recipes. I have to say this is my own version using the following ingredients - 2 cinnamon sticks, 5 whole cloves, 5 cardamom seeds, 2 tomatoes, garlic, 1 onion thinly sliced/blended, 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander, 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin, 2 tablespoon natural yogurt and 1/4 cup of thick coconut milk (can elimate this if you think it would be too milky). This dish is non spicy, more towards a sourish savoury and tastes so good with hot rice. However, will try some other method next time as Eng prefers the gravy to be thicker and I like the colour to be yellowish.
