Last GP Visit (36th week)

Filed under: 9 Months Project - mel @ 9:15 pm

Paid a last visit to the GP today. As a primagravidae (first time preggie), will continue to visit the midwife weekly till I deliver. I was thrilled to learn that Cameron has grown, his head is pretty much engaged and I’ve put on a bit of weight. To further stimulate his growth, GP advised me to eat more more more! Managed to listen to his heartbeat as usual and GP says that my tummy is so slim that the shape of Cameron’s bum is so visible and apparent. On the downside, I’m slightly anemic but shouldn’t be much of a concern. I’m definitely a self-proclaimed foodaholic, so rest assured I will heed the GP’s advice to gobble more. So guess what I had for dinner? Home-made Nasi lemak with chicken curry…sungguh enak!

I survived 2006

Filed under: Other News - eng @ 5:11 pm

Can’t remember exactly when was my last blog but it has been a long long time. As Mel has mentioned, end of 2006 was a very interesting one, but lots of hard work. We moved to our 1 bedroom flat (Brit call it Maisonette) on 1/Dec and spent couple of days organising stuff as we have far too many things or partly due to the place which is small (much much smaller than my previous 800sq feet USJ6 apartment, if you been up there).

Then we started progressing our renovation plan. Started with bathroom, bidding stuff off ebay, and spoken to plumbers. As a frugal person (yes I admit), I decided to DIY since a plumber quoted me £150 to fix an electric shower while another quoted me £900 for workmanship changing BathTub, Sink, Toilet and Tiling. I am still very much used to the RM currency and couldn’t help converting.
Things didn’t go too well with my DIY but thank God I met this guy Jonny from church. He is a Sabahan married to a local and live just about 500m away! He is so kind, with his tools and pointers I managed to kick start the project.

If you ask me how was my holiday, bathroom is where I spent my 2.5 weeks Christmas holiday. For now the shower area is finished, fully tiled, power shower is running, new shower curtain is up and showering has turned into something enjoyable everyday. Overall, progress has been slow as there are more to be done in the bathroom, but I learn something new time to time, it is very satisfying. Hopefully, the bathroom will be finished before the big day 1/Feb.

DIY aside, I am getting a little nervous of the coming 1/Feb wondering what sort of dad I will be and wondering how well I will handle Mel’s confinement month. But I guess I will be alright, I have attempted so many things that I haven’t done before and so far they all turned out quite alright.

Spending most of my time in DIY means I do not have much spare time to get myself updated with news back home. However, I do hear news about Malaysian being greeted with flood and increased toll fares. From the way the disaster is handled and ever increasing expenses, the whole government thing is just getting uglier and uglier. Well I hope all these will strengthen the will of Malaysians to topple the current administration in the coming election. -eng

Typical Home-cooked Meals

Filed under: Food Talk - mel @ 1:53 pm

Here are other simple and typical home-cooked meals (Baked beans with egg/Chicken with Chinese Mushrooms and Dried Lily Flower). Delicious, healthy and speedy to prepare, convenient for working individuals. However, consume baked beans in moderate level since it’s canned food but baked beans itself is nutritious.

To prepare the beans dish, you need to scramble the eggs in advance and make sure it is fried thoroughly. Then, cook the beans and add a little sugar. Lastly, stir the beans with the eggs.

As for the chicken dish, sweat some garlic and ginger with sesame oil. Add mushrooms and dried lily flower. Add chicken and fry until fragrant. Add dark soy sauce and light soy sauce to taste. Lastly, add some water and leave to simmer for 15 minutes. This is due to be a confinement recipe too - looking forward towards my hubby’s cooking ;)
