Counting the days to Soccer Fever

Filed under: Other News - Administrator @ 6:22 pm

The Beckhams hosted a world cup party at their mansion here last weekend. Approximately 500 VIPs namely Rooney, Osbourne, Robbie Williams, Baby Spice and Puff Daddy (who flew in on a private jet) attended the high profile event and dined on scrumptious cuisine from Gordon Ramsay’s selections. Some auctions were going on and Beckham offered his watch, which was a gift from his wife for £50,000. Eng then turned to me and said, ‘How nice if my wife gives me a £50,000 watch too’. Ya right! I’ve yet to open my mouth to demand for a Mulberry or CD tote which is so much “cheaper” haha

England and Hungary had a pre-world cup match in Old Trafford yesterday with a 3:1 victory. Poor Rooney couldn’t play and everyone is speculating on his appearance in the WC2006 although he will be flying off with the team to Germany next week. Owen had a thigh injury and is still recovering. Anyway, guess the new and youngest footballer Theo is gonna rock! Some 100,000 England fans, supporters and polices are expected to travel to Germany. However, the UK immigration has banned 3,000 hooligans/trouble makers from leaving the country by temporarily confiscating their passports and these devastated blokes will be required to report each time England plays. So siao! Btw, these days all the young Brits dream to be footballers’ wives, so the trophy wives syndrome has gone out of trend.

I’m gonna miss my kakis and the TSB (Telawi Street Bistro) football watch during the ON days. And our super big SAP system will be going ‘live’ on 1st July in Malaysia and I wonder how it’s gonna achieve the timeline gauging by the majority of workforce on this project are from Europe and will practically be in offline mode in June. Lesson learned – Never ever challenge the priority of WC – mel.

gallstone!?

Filed under: Other News - eng @ 1:13 pm

OK… just had my 4th ‘dump’ (haha u not reading this after meal)
i am quite happy actually. Finally some success from my gallstone cleansing !

i have been long waiting to try this cleansing since i was in KL but have never got the opportunity. So this spring is a good time; with slightly higher temperature and bank holiday monday !

I started consuming green apples since thursday for 3 days! I mean a lot a lot of apples. At once I tried to eat 1 every hour. Then I was on a complete high fiber diet the whole day yesterday with only muesli, potatoes and vege.

At 8.00pm last night I had to down a glass of olive oil plus lemon juice from 4 lemons. It was absolutely unpleasant. I divided them into 5 times and at first it went quite well and I thought i would be alright. I knew I was dead wrong when my stomach rumbled from hunger but with a greasy feeling. Oh ya, I couldn’t bear my own burp ! Luckily Big Brother diverted my focus with some skimpy dressed chicks :-p

At 10, I had my last sip of the ‘v-power’ and jumped into bed. Tried hard to sleep with my smelly breath and stomach of an oil tank, but some how I slept. But I did wake up a few times in the middle of the night feeling nausea.

Got up at 5.30 and had my first toilet visit 1 hr later. Didn’t get what I expected. Second urge came another hour later but with dissapointment again.

But the third time was greasy looking *yuck* with many greenish stuff floating on the top. Many of them are of the size of dog food pallets! I was happy.

Then the last time (as i blog) are better looking ones. With few like the size of peas.

So far I don’t feel anything as yet, so I don’t know if it is good physically. But I am glad I did that and able to expel something bad out of my body. Well, provided they are not composites from the result of scientific interactions between Olive oil and lemon !

If I feel alright in the next few days … maybe I will attempt again in July !! -eng

KheeHeng’s UK Visit… funny la

Filed under: Other News - eng @ 12:37 pm

kheeheng stayed overnight at my flat on Friday and caught a night flight home yesterday… many ppl would be surprised, me too cause he hasn’t even visited my usj house the last time. Sometimes I do admit that I tend to meet more friends in UK than in KL when they happen to be here… It all started few months back when I received an email from KH asking me about places of interest in UK. He was planning for a month expedition in Europe where UK would be his last stop. So we exchanged a few emails and of course I did mention that if he wanted to sleepover, that’s fine with me. Things went really quiet after that, I mean really quiet in the sense that no further emails to confirm anything, no phone call or sms/pigeon or anything and I didn’t even know that he departed for his trip also !! well that didn’t bother me as I was freaking busy with my driving test and parents’ visit. Then out of the blue on a Thursday night while driving back from Preston, I got a phone call from him! It happened so sudden and I wasn’t prepared to take a malaysian call haha. So I did pause a bit to answer him. He was rather straight to the point asking me about sleepover, haha no Helo, how r u type. Anyway he was lucky that my Preston work didn’t get extended. BTW, the call was really short, I suspect he used only 20p to make that call as I sensed that he was in a marathon chasing after the call minutes. OK then on Friday I received his call again. And I picked him up from the train station. No sweat but we did spend a few minutes walking around town trying to buy milk and bread. I didn’t stock them cause I was on special cleansing .. details later. As usual la. He looks the same and still skinny (I know i am skinny too). and he still talks like old time… Fastt… We talked about the usual things, KL condition, his job, company, his trip, his MONEY (yes he can talk all night about this), his gf (aiya, mai kong la) It was fun to catch up to be honest. And sometimes in Hokkien .. Ho LIAO !! BTW, word of caution ! if KH ever take shower in your house, remember to remind him about the existence of shower curtain (if u use one), otherwise it can be easily ignored and you will be in tears looking at the aftermath HAHAHAHa Below, KH and me and his sack for the night.

Big Mouth

Filed under: Sharing & Support - Administrator @ 7:30 pm

Came across these role-plays with a distinct sense of deja vu. All I know is true friends encourage and share the joys of their mates.

Scene A Average Joe has been working on the same project for 5 years and is looking to move on to a new role. He has been promoted a year ago. He is pretty much tired of the current project and is stagnant in terms of career advancement. However, the project is in a bad shape and most of his teammates are looking forward to leave too. R2D2 is not the aggressive kind, though complains all the time.
Average Joe: My last day for the current project is end of August 2020.
R2D2 : So lucky you. Can escape easily.
Average Joe : Might sound easy to you but I went through hell lots of disagreement with the top.
R2D2 : Still consider lucky lah since it was the project that justified your promotion.
Big Mouth – There is no hard and fast rule that after that promotion, Average Joe needs to serve the same project/company till death. Average Joe fought hard to get what he wanted; a promotion and the move to a new role and should not be penalized with sarcasm just because R2D2 is wishy-washy.

Scene B ET has just broke off from a relationship and is a believer of the Sex and the City lifestyle and is keeping herself busy with work. At the same time, her best friend just got engaged and is living with his partner.
ET : You happy or not?
Average Joe : Of course I am! Check out my blog.
ET : Gosh, you really have that much time to do these kinda things huh ?
Big Mouth – Blogging is a valuable activity to some people as it helps to record thoughts for future references. Anyway, life is not just about being in a rat-race but it’s also about investing ways in self-reflection and development. At the end of the day, what you bring to life after retirement is priceless learning of quality living; not achievement from work (well maybe lots of money…but can money alone buy happiness?). The root cause is purely lack of effective time management.

Indian-Chef Wannabe

Filed under: Food Talk - Administrator @ 6:57 pm

Without fail, Eng has been religiously seeking for his perfect Rogan Josh Lamb since he first tasted it in Bangalore. It was like love at first sight haha (yes I can still laugh about it)..As you can see, he even bought a book on Indian recipes with the hope that I would be able to learn and cook as well as an Indian chef wahhhhh. This was our second attempt cooking the dish from scratch and this time Eng did it all by himself and it turned out precisely well! I love it! Spices used for this recipe are garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, chilli powder. Not too sure if these can be easily obtained in KL? Otherwise, we would have to become DHL when we return - mel.

Cherry Season

Filed under: Food Talk - Administrator @ 7:46 pm

I used to dislike cherries..urrghh cough syrup. Not till one fine day in year 2002 when I changed my mind after trying some fresh cherries…mmmmm…come to think about it, maybe it’s the preserved ones that I didn’t like. Currently, it’s the cherry season here in Europe. Yeah! The season is celebrated in quite a big-ish way in US - National Cherry Festival. Nevertheless, what could be more rewarding than to enjoy some sweet tasting ruby-red fruits on a grey rainy Saturday after a long productive week at work - mel.

Exercise regime begins

Filed under: Events & Travels - mel @ 7:14 pm

After hibernating through autumn and winter, we finally instigate our outdoor exercise routine again. Ahhhh… fresh air, plentiful sunshine, smell of spring, smiley faces…Really miss my body jam and body step classes back in KL. We cycled along Basingstoke Canal which is adjacent to our residence. Stopped a couple of times along the way to capture the exquisite nature. The below close-up is my favourite (dunno what it’s called, though it looks like chrysanthemum). We are looking forward to many more cycling activities and investing in some amateur photographing. If you’ve got good sites on snapshots, do share. This is a nice one - mel

Rapeseed Oil

Filed under: Food Talk - mel @ 10:00 pm

Spring is the beginning season for rapeseed oil plantation. The sea of yellow crops is startling enough to catch our attention as we cruise along the English highway. Ignorant on the use of the plant, we decided to search the net. True enough that rapeseed oil which has been processed to remove toxic chemicals is actually canola. It contains healthy fat and mostly unsaturated which are not associated to heart disease and even better than coconut oil, palm kernel oil and cocoa butter. So it is definitely a healthy choice for cooking, so now we can eat at ease.

Every LITTLE thing is a Blessing

Filed under: Sharing & Support - mel @ 9:02 pm

We have so many good things to share and I guess it is more fun to do it in stride. Best news for me till today is mum’s constant dizziness has subsided a little, though a LITTLE but it is an improvement at least. The least, she doesn’t need to suffer intensive pain and is in better hope. It is never easy to deal and cope with people, especially loved ones who are succumb by illnesses. Since young, I’ve had close encounter with suffering patients; late-grandpa for 3 years, then late-grandma for 5 years, myself and now mum. All these life testimonies alert me that well-being and health are crucial to lead a meaningful life. Our Lady plays an important role to mum’s recovery as she is such a stress reliever, keeps mum busy and a darling to every member of the family. She definitely works better than me! Although my parents and us are miles apart but regular and consistent distant communication enhance our relationship in this instance. It makes us appreciate each other even more. Of course not every family needs to go through this for self-realisation……it all depends - mel.

Deeply dissapointed…

Filed under: Nation Gossips - eng @ 8:23 am

http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2006/5/9/nation/14187247&sec=nation&focus=1

Our PM without fail has once again disappointed me. Not only he didn’t punish those who have done wrong, but he rebuked those who have done right !

By doing that:
he encourages more MPs to get involve with government departments’ duties, e.g. cronies get away from being issued traffic summons or luxury cars being imported without tax !?

he also discourages whistle blower from BN, no one in BN will willing to risk their position to challenge anything within the party (yes anything).

and lastly… blinded by the stone age rule, any opposition motion would be shot down regardless if they are beneficial or true or whatever.

I am deeply disgusted by the rule and I am shamed of what Badawi has said.

I am very convinced that Badawi is incapable. Time is out and I will pray for a new Malaysia leader in upcoming election  -eng

Roman’s Bath

Filed under: Eng's Parents' Escapade in the UK - mel @ 1:07 pm

Bath was the last destination in UK that Ma & Pa went to. It was a good choice and the Georgian architecture is pretty much unique compared to the last few places that we went to. However, we did not enter the Roman Bath…too tired after all the sight seeing and for some reason…probably next time…

Frequently Visited Windsor

Filed under: Eng's Parents' Escapade in the UK - Administrator @ 8:38 am

Windsor is one of the main tourist attractions that is in the close proximity to where we live. We will definitely bring our visitors to this place, so we have been there a couple of times ;) It is a working Royal palace and used frequently by the Queen for state ceremonies and official entertaining. The Queen also uses Buckingham Palace for receptions but officially lives in there.
